Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Kathryn Paek discusses a case with a Legal Aid Society attorney and his client Saturday at a warrant forgiveness program held at the Grand Street Settlement in Manhattan.
The “Clean Slate” program, sponsored by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office and the Legal Aid Society, attracted about 460 New Yorkers with outstanding summonses for nonviolent offenses; 289 cases were dismissed on the spot or were adjourned in contemplation of dismissal if the defendant is not rearrested within six months.
