The criminal case against two leaders of Dewey & LeBoeuf took an unusual turn Friday, when former executive director Stephen DiCarmine said he wanted to represent himself at a retrial.

At a conference before Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Robert Stolz, Bryan Cave partner Austin Campriello asked to be relieved as counsel for DiCarmine, saying he and his client had irreconcilable differences on trial strategy.
