Rensselaer County’s district attorney has backed away from challenging state Attorney General Eric Schneiderman’s authority to investigate the fatal shooting of a civilian by a Troy police sergeant.

Papers filed Monday in state Supreme Court in Albany County showed that Rensselaer County District Attorney Joel Abelove has agreed to turn over all records related to the investigation into the April 17 death of civilian Edson Thevenin.
