The New York City Police Department must produce tests and reports describing radiation emitted by its “Z-backscatter” vans, a mobile X-ray machine used to scan a vehicle or building interior, a Manhattan appeals court ruled Tuesday.

However, the appeals panel reversed a lower court holding that the NYPD also had to disclose records relating to past deployments of the devices, as well as policies, procedures, training materials, aggregate cost and the total number of vans.
