A class action suit alleging hospitals and medical providers routinely overcharged for copies of medical records has been revived by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

The circuit reversed a lower court and held that plaintiffs had standing to sue The Rochester General Hospital, The Unity Hospital of Rochester and F.F. Thompson Hospital, and their agent, HealthPort Technologies, for making a profit off of providing records, contrary to state law.
