Sponsors of a proposed pipeline to carry natural gas between Pennsylvania and New York have filed a federal suit challenging the Cuomo administration’s denial of a crucial permit for the project.

The Northern District action, Constitution Pipeline Company v. New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, 16-cv-00568, contends that the state had no legal basis to deny a water quality permit in April to the 124-mile-long project.
