The New York Civil Liberties Union is seeking to force the New York City Police Department to disclose detailed information about its purchases of cellphone-tracking devices known as “Stingrays.”
The group, in Matter of New York Civil Liberties Union v. New York City Police Department, claims the NYPD did not release the Stingray information that the group had requested under the state Freedom of Information Law.
