The state Commission on Judicial Conduct has recommended that a town court justice in Westchester County be admonished for improperly letting a deputy town attorney decide on the disposition of traffic cases before her court from May 2011 to May 2012.
The commission said Tuesday that Eastchester Town Court Justice Janet Calano, who is an attorney, compounded her misconduct by initialing 189 files after the fact in an apparent attempt to make it appear as if she had reviewed and signed off on dismissals or reductions of charges for motorists when the cases had actually been concluded by the deputy town attorney.
