A Brooklyn judge ordered a lawyer to return $122,000 to a disabled woman from whom he improperly accepted gifts while serving as her attorney-in-fact and health care proxy.

Supreme Court Justice Michael Pesce said he was convinced that 80-year-old Mary Mitchell of Brooklyn never would have willingly made the gifts to George Shadoian because it would have been out of character for her to display such generosity, even to the church of which she was a devoted follower.
