ESTATE OF ELESTEEN STEPTOE, Deceased (15/109) — This is an administration proceeding in which the petitioner, Marcia Steptoe, moves for summary judgment dismissing the objections of Bweela Steptoe.1 Elesteen Steptoe (the decedent) died on September 29, 1995, survived by her daughter, the petitioner, and 4 grandchildren, including the objectant. The sole assets of the estate are two buildings located in Brooklyn — 840 Monroe Street (840 Monroe) and 840A Monroe Street (840A Monroe and together with 840 Monroe, the real properties). Fifty percent of these properties are owned outright by the petitioner by virtue of deeds executed by the decedent long before her death.

On or about October 31, 2014, the petitioner filed a petition to be appointed the administrator of the decedent’s estate. The petitioner filed an affidavit, sworn to on October 31, 2014, stating that there had been no need for the issuance of letters of administration in the past, however, now almost 20 years after the decedent’s death, certain distributees seek the value of their interests in the real properties. Accordingly, sale of the real properties is needed.
