False testimony under oath and the violation of a direct court order not to interfere with the interview of witnesses by opposing counsel has led a federal judge to sanction a DLA Piper partner and a former attorney with the firm.

Southern District Judge Katherine Forrest ordered DLA Piper partner Brian John Pendleton Jr. to pay $10,000 for telling a former employee of the firm’s client, Benecard Services Inc., not to speak with opposing counsel in prescription drug litigation in New York.
