James McGuire, a former justice of the Appellate Division, First Department, has left Dechert to join litigation boutique Holwell Shuster & Goldberg as a partner focusing on civil and criminal litigation and regulatory matters.

McGuire, 63, has long-running connections with the firm’s founders. He said he has known boutique founder Richard Holwell, a former Southern District judge, for the past 20 years and practiced with him and co-founders Michael Shuster and Daniel Goldberg when they all worked at White & Case about 13 years ago.
