Roger Ailes, the Fox News chairman and CEO, has resigned from his post, effective immediately, the network’s parent company announced Thursday.

The announcement came 15 days after Ailes was sued by former anchor Gretchen Carlson for sexual harassment. In a statement, 21st Century Fox said its executive chairman, Rupert Murdoch, will take over as chairman and acting CEO of Fox News Channel.
