Dean Skelos, the former state Senate majority leader who was found guilty in federal court of extortion and bribery for helping to enrich his son through no-show jobs, has been disbarred.

Skelos, 68, a Nassau County Republican, was convicted of using his position to secure bribes and extortion payments for his son, Adam Skelos. They both were convicted by a Southern District jury of conspiracy to commit extortion under color of official right, conspiracy to commit honest services wire fraud, three counts of extortion under color of official right and three counts of solicitation of bribes and gratuities (NYLJ, Dec. 14, 2015).
