Alan Resnick, a longtime law professor at the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University and a nationally known authority in bankruptcy law, died Thursday of complications from multiple myeloma, a form of cancer. He was 68.

In addition to his 42-year tenure with Hofstra Law, Resnick was editor-in-chief of Colliers on Bankruptcy and was of counsel to Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson, where he was consulted on virtually all bankruptcy and restructuring matters, the firm stated in his biography.
