Mezzo-soprano Elise Quagliata performs the title role in “Carmen” during a private performance of the New York City Opera at Duane Morris Thursday evening.
The law firm provided pro bono representation to NYCO Renaissance, a newly formed nonprofit that took over the opera and helped it emerge from bankruptcy. Duane Morris partners James Vincequerra and Gerard Catalanello helped the group make a bid to purchase certain assets, including the opera’s trademark, the URL of its website, donor subscriber lists and a thrift shop that raises money for “The People’s Opera,” according to Law Journal affiliate The American Lawyer.
