Mayor Bill de Blasio on Friday appointed court attorney-referee Monica Shulman to Family Court, one day after the Mayor’s Committee on the Judiciary hearing held a hearing on her nomination.

Shulman has been a court attorney-referee in Family Court in Manhattan since 2010, handling up to 1,200 filings a year. Previously, she was the supervising attorney for the Manhattan Family Court Legal Services Division for the Administration for Children’s Services for 12 years and had worked for ACS for 12 years in the Bronx, Manhattan and Brooklyn. Prior to joining ACS, she was a plaintiff’s personal injury lawyer.
