Plaintiffs lawyers filed claims Tuesday against New York University, Yale University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, saying the schools opted for more expensive retirement investments, with higher fees, for faculty and employees.

In three separate class-action lawsuits, attorneys with Schlichter Bogard & Denton charged violations of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) because the schools allegedly sponsored plans that caused participants to pay millions in excessive fees.
