Guardianship proceedings brought by the adult children of celebrities Peter Falk, Casey Kasem and Glen Campbell highlight the conflicts between children of one marriage and the wife by a later marriage. Each suffered in later life from dementia, and their care was the subject of public conflict between their adult children of one marriage and their wives by a later marriage. The children brought guardianship proceedings when their stepmothers denied them visitation with their father and withheld health information. The relationships grew so toxic that when Falk and Kasem died, funeral and burial information was withheld from their children.

Following their judicial outcomes, the children have moved their focus to the legislative arena, seeking to establish the right of a child to visit with his incapacitated parent, to have information about medical condition, and ultimately to be told about funeral and burial arrangements.
