The only two sitting New York City judges who face opposition in Tuesday’s primary election are running for elevation to the same seat.

Sabrina Kraus and Susan Avery, both judges in housing parts of NYC Civil Court, are vying for the Democratic nomination for the Civil Court judgeship in Manhattan’s 6th Municipal Court District. The seat has been vacant since the 2015 election of Arthur Engoron to state Supreme Court.
