A woman may bar her estranged husband from the delivery room as she gives birth to their child, a judge has decided in an apparent case of first impression.

Acting Staten Island Supreme Court Justice Catherine DiDomenico said it is “axiomatic” that the wife’s right to privacy extends to whom she allows to be present at the place where medical treatment is being given, including the delivery room of a hospital.
