A civil rights attorney has been sanctioned for investigating the former police officer who shot and killed a 20-year-old Pace University student in 2010.

Attorney Bonita Zelman, representing college students who claim they were Tasered and beaten by police breaking up a disturbance at a Thornwood bar in 2010, was sanctioned $7,500 by Southern District Magistrate Judge Lisa Smith for investigating former Village of Pleasantville officer Aaron Hess.
