New York’s top court on Thursday refused to revive Facebook Inc.’s two-year-old attorney deceit claims against three law firms that formerly represented Paul Ceglia, the now-fugitive who claimed an 84 percent ownership stake in the social media giant.
In a one-sentence ruling, the New York Court of Appeals denied Facebook’s motion for leave to appeal an underlying decision that dismissed Facebook’s claims. Facebook was pursuing attorney deceit and malicious prosecution claims against DLA Piper; Milberg; Buffalo-based Lippes Mathias Wexler Friedman and eight individual lawyers at the firms.
