A state appeals court has upheld a Westchester County judge’s decision to direct Putnam County to release the names and addresses of residents who have pistol permits.
In December 2012, a reporter with Gannett-owned The Journal News/lohud.com, which serves the lower Hudson Valley, filed a request under New York’s Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) for the names and addresses of permit holders in Westchester, Putnam and Rockland counties.
