A judge has rejected a challenge to the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office policy to delegate prosecution of two cases involving participants in Black Lives Matter protests accused of low-level offenses to New York City Police Department legal staffers.

In a ruling handed down on Monday, Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Guy Mitchell said that district attorneys are allowed to delegate prosecution of petty crimes to other agencies as long as the DA is made aware of all criminal prosecutions within its jurisdiction.
