An appeals court has affirmed the convictions of an able-bodied man accused of trying to drive a stolen motorized wheelchair off a hospital’s grounds at what the court called a “high rate of speed.”

The Appellate Division, Fourth Department, panel ruled that applicable charges were brought against Eddie Palmer, including second-degree unauthorized use of a vehicle, to support his conviction by Monroe County Court Judge Francis Affronti in a bench trial.
