Shortly after a recent gala celebration of its 50th anniversary, the Center for Constitutional rights (CCR), received word that the U.S. Supreme Court is going to take another look at a favorable ruling it obtained in a case it has been pursuing for more than 14 years.
The court will review a 2-1 decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit reinstating class claims that federal officials, including former U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft and his FBI director Robert Mueller III, can be held liable for civil rights violations in the roundup and detention of Muslim, Arab and South Asian men after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks (NYLJ, June 18, 2015).
