The murder conviction of a man allegedly embroiled in a violent, multiyear war with a rival rap record label has been vacated by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
The Second Circuit said a trial judge erred by vowing to allow into evidence admissions that James Rosemond, who was convicted of murder-for-hire, made in a proffer session with prosecutors in an unrelated case. The vow, the circuit held, hampered his defense at trial.
