A man who spoke of aliens controlling the government and believed the Sandy Hook school shooting was faked—and was then arrested, briefly committed and lost his job as a teacher in the Bedford Central School District—has lost an appeal that was based in part on the Second Amendment right to bear arms.

Adam Heller was tracked by the FBI after an anonymous tip reported bizarre on-line conversations in which he said he wanted to kill people. Pound Ridge police pulled him over in January 2013 while he was on his way home from purchasing his fourth gun in two months and had him briefly committed.
