As a name partner at one of the country’s largest mass tort firms, Jayne Conroy has recovered hundreds of millions of dollars in verdicts and settlements over her 30-year career. Among them: a $1.6 billion global settlement in multidistrict litigation against Toyota for unintended acceleration; multiple billions of dollars in claims to individuals harmed by BP’s Deepwater Horizon oil spill and hundreds of millions of dollars to 9/11 victims. This year, Conroy helped to secure a $502 million verdict in a Texas federal court case for five plaintiffs against Johnson & Johnson’s DePuy Orthopedics, which manufactures hip replacements. Her team’s discovery revealed repeated instances where doctors lied in clinical testing and forged patient consent forms. Conroy and her partner Paul Hanly are now spearheading Suffolk County’s case against drug manufacturers alleging deceptive marketing of opioid painkillers.
