Throughout her career, Sharon Nelles has been helping businesses as they face bet-the-company or franchise-threatening litigation, such as ones they confronted in the financial crisis. She is one of the few women practitioners whom companies invite to join them in the trenches before Congress, federal agencies and in federal and state courtrooms. Most recently, her crisis management and strategy skills were tapped by Volkswagen, to represent the world’s seventh largest company in litigation and investigations arising out of its “clean diesel” problem. She led a Sullivan & Cromwell team in reaching a settlement with state and federal agencies and private agencies that was unprecedented for its speed, scope and complexity.
