In liberal New York, it’s no surprise that the majority of those in the legal community reached Nov. 18 reacted negatively to the nomination of Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions to be the next attorney general of the United States.

But not all oppose the choice. The minority view among dozens of lawyers was that Sessions brings to the U.S. Justice Department a wealth of experience, including a solid record as a U.S. attorney. Some attorneys said they are taking a wait-and-see approach while acknowledging President-elect Donald Trump’s prerogative to pick a nominee he trusts.
