New York state has been dropped as a defendant in Airbnb’s lawsuit challenging a new state law that imposes heavy fines for hosts who advertise units that cannot be legally rented.

New York City, the remaining defendant in the suit filed Oct. 21 by the online home-sharing service, indicated in a separate filing before Southern District Judge Katherine Forrest that settlement talks between Airbnb and the city continue.
