Columbia University has been ordered to leave Dr. Robert Taub alone while it pursues his termination for his role in the political corruption case of former state Assembly speaker Sheldon Silver.

Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Manuel Mendez found Columbia in contempt of an earlier order and granted an expanded injunction in favor of Taub, a mesothelioma research expert who was a key witness at Silver’s trial. The injunction prevents the university from reducing his staff and interfering in Taub’s “ability to conduct his work,” including his ability to see patients.
