ALBANY – Chronic pain will be added to the conditions making patients eligible to receive medical marijuana in New York, the state’s health commissioner has announced.

Dr. Howard Zucker said in a statement he would file proposed amendments to the regulations under which medical providers can prescribe medical marijuana to some patients. Since dispensing of medical marijuana began in New York in January, about 10,500 patients have received subscriptions from about 750 physicians, according to the state health department.
