The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday turned down an attempt by former American International Group CEO Maurice “Hank” Greenberg to block civil fraud charges at the heart of his ongoing trial in Manhattan Supreme Court.

The justices denied certiorari in Greenberg’s appeal of a New York Court of Appeals decision that said his trial could go forward despite his contention that fraud charges against him under the state “Martin Act” must be federally pre-empted.
