Several well-known law firms came together this year, once again shaking up the legal landscape in New York.

The biggest merger was the combination of Am Law 100 firms Kaye Scholer, based in New York, with Arnold & Porter, headquartered in Washington, D.C. The merger, announced Nov. 10 and effective Jan. 1, will create a law firm generating close to $1 billion in revenue. The new entity, Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer, will have roughly 1,000 lawyers in nine offices, with about a third of them in New York.
