ALBANY – The departure of Judge Eugene Pigott Jr. on Saturday marks the end of any influence the last Republican governor may have had on the Court of Appeals.
The 70-year-old Pigott is retiring under a state mandate but will not leave the judiciary entirely. He has been certificated as a state trial court justice and will take his seat immediately as an acting Buffalo Supreme Court justice.
