A second federal suit has been filed challenging the legality of a new state requirement that nonprofit groups disclose the identities of donors giving them $2,500 or more.
The suit, American Civil Liberties Union Foundation. v. Agata, 1:16-cv-09854, was filed jointly Dec. 21 in the Southern District by the ACLU Foundation, the affiliated New York Civil Liberties Union and the NYCLU Foundation, against the Joint Commission on Public Ethics, its executive director Seth Agata and state attorney general Eric Schneiderman in their official capacities.
