A group representing the attorneys general of 14 states and officials of five cities and counties, including New York City, are warning President-elect Donald Trump of dire environmental consequences if he discards emissions standards set under the federal Clean Power Plan.

The officials told Trump in a Dec. 28 letter released Thursday that the carbon-dioxide emission reductions achieved under the plan have been effective, while still allowing states and power plants the flexibility to maintain an adequate electrical supply.
