Chief Judge Janet DiFiore congratulates Michael Magliano after swearing him in as the new chief of public safety for the New York state court system on Friday in Brooklyn. Magliano will run the 4,000-member Department of Public Safety, which oversees court security services in approximately 350 courthouses—31 in New York City.
A graduate of Saint Francis College and a Brooklyn native, Magliano joined the Unified Court System as a court officer in 1983 and rose steadily through the ranks, most recently as Chief of citywide operations.
