Fantasy sports require players to display savvy and skill to succeed, not merely luck, attorneys for New York state are arguing in defense of the 2016 statute that legalized FanDuel Inc., DraftKings and other online gaming operators.

The Attorney General’s Office said that since they are games of skill, fantasy sports were properly authorized by the state Legislature and Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
