In the aftermath of the 2016 election, there have been a number of groups formed on various social media sites: “Lawyers 4 Good Government,” “Lawyers of the Left,” “Getting Stuff Done NYS,” etc. They share a common theme: These lawyers and other civic-minded citizens are motivated to take action to ensure that various rights are protected. “Liking” or “following” a cause is not enough; they wish to actually do something.

Short of writing a large check to organizations committed to enforcing rights, it is difficult to find a way to make a real impact entirely on one’s own. But if we work together, we have the opportunity to really make a difference. This is the New York State Bar Association at its best.
