New York regulators have made Coinbase Inc. the latest virtual currency and money transmission company to be licensed by the state.

The state Department of Financial Services (DFS) announced this week that Coinbase’s licensing application has been approved, based on its positive review of the company’s anti-money laundering protections, its capitalization, consumer protection safeguards and cybersecurity policies.
