The pushback against President Donald Trump’s vow to cut federal funding for “sanctuary cities” that protect immigrants from deportation was swift in New York.
New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, joining officials in Boston, Los Angeles and other cities across the country, promised to fight any attempt to cut funds or acquiesce in deportation and detention policies.
