Two state legislative committees will hold a hearing Feb. 28 on the potential effects of closing the Indian Point nuclear power plants in Westchester County.

The chair of the state Assembly Committee on Energy, Amy Paulin, D-Scarsdale, and chair of the Senate Committee on Energy and Telecommunications, Joseph Griffo, R-Rome, said among the issues they want to explore are the power generation sources that will make up for the 2,000 megawatts of electricity now produced at the plant, the decommissioning process for the facility, and the shutdown’s effects on local taxes and the economy.
