Three legal leaders were recognized for their contributions to the profession and the community Friday at the Nassau County Courts 12th annual Black History Month celebration, sponsored by the bar’s Black History Committee and the Amistad Long Island Black Bar Association.

From left, Nassau District Court Judge Andrea Phoenix, Nassau District Court Supervising Judge Norman St. George, Nassau Administrative Judge Thomas Adams and Nassau County Bar Association president Martha Krisel join the honorees: Lance Clarke, counsel to the deputy Assembly speaker Earlene Hooper, who received the Alfred S. Robbins Memorial Award; Nassau Family Court senior clerk Tammy Mann, who received the Michele M. Woodard Service Award; and St. John’s University associate professor Oscar Holt III, who received the Amistad Presidential Award. Also joining the honorees are Cherice Vanderhall, executive director of the Amistad bar, and Acting Nassau Supreme Court Justice Jerald Carter, chair of the Black History Committee.
