New York court administrators have formally devised language they say parties should use if they wish to designate the Commercial Division as having jurisdiction over legal disputes in state court.

Chief Administrative Judge Lawrence Marks said his administrative order adding a new §202.70 to the Uniform Rules for the Supreme and County Courts is not mandatory or binding. But he said Tuesday that his Commercial Division Advisory Council suggested advancing the rule as guidance when parties agree that the Commercial Division should be the forum to settle disputes.
