A powerful winter storm expected to dump up to two feet of snow in some parts of the state has prompted the Office of Court Administration to close all courts in New York City, Long Island and the 9th Judicial District, which covers Rockland, Westchester, Putnam, Orange and Dutchess counties.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit also will be closed due to adverse weather conditions. Oral arguments scheduled for Tuesday will be heard Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. Filing deadlines will remain in effect. All Eastern and Southern District courthouses will be closed as well.
