ALBANY – New York state has reached a $44.4 million settlement with an independent truckers’ association over what a judge determined were unconstitutional registration fees imposed by the state on out-of-state commercial trucks.
The order and final judgment approved by Acting Albany Supreme Court Justice James Ferreira on April 19 settles the suit initiated by the truckers’ group in Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association v. New York State Department of Taxation and Finance, 5551-13.
